The Mistakes in the Making series gives our filmmaking friends an opportunity to speak directly to our filmmaking audience to share a specific lesson they've learned through a mistake they've made. We are firm believers that mistakes can be the gateway to success when we open our hearts and minds to learning from them, sharing them, and using them to Be Better.

The Film Investment series is a conversational series of 52 episodes geared towards the would-be film investor. Each episode, facilitated via a friendly conversation between hosts and friends Christopher Barkley and Jason McConnell, highlights a unique aspect of the film investment process. In addition to being a great resource for film investors, it serves as a reference for filmmakers regarding the many considerations that must be made when seeking film investment.

In this episode, we speak with Actress and Writer Florencia Lozano. We talk about her film, ‘Life After You,’ her new Netflix series ‘Keep Breathing,’ the plague of grief, addiction, shame, and suicide, what Americans get wrong about freedom and what we take for granted, and how to solve the world’s biggest problems, the value of “owning it” as creative, why Soap Actors don’t get the respect they deserve, and the secret to winning over Producers and Casting Directors in auditions.




 

About Florencia Lozano


Florencia Lozano is an American actress who starred as Téa Delgado on the daytime series One Life to Live. She got her MFA at NYU’s Graduate Acting Program and her BA at Brown University where she studied Comparative Literature. Florencia is a member of the LAByrinth Theater Company and LAB’s literary manager. Her play: “underneathmybed” was produced at the Rattlestick Playwrights’ Theatre and won HOLA’s (Hispanic Organization of Latino Actors) Best New Play Award in 2010. Her play BUSTED was produced by Rising Phoenix at CINO nights and her new play PAPILUCHO is currently in development.


Florencia is most prominently known for One Life To Live (1975-2013) TV Series, General Hospital (2012) TV Series, Veronika Decides To Die (2009), and Perfect Stranger (2007). Florencia’s non-television work spans from 2005 to the present and includes 13 feature length films and 5 shorts. Florencia's Keep Breathing series is set to air on Netflix in 2022.


Florencia is starring in “Life After You,” an independent feature released on April 5 and airing now on Pay-Per-View, Video On Demand, and other major platforms The film centers around a suburban family's struggle with the death of their 19-year-old son, following an overdose of heroin that was laced with fentanyl.

"Life After You" explores the questions of who and what is responsible for this tragedy and follows their journey to answer these questions as their family unravels from grief, guilt, and anger. The film is inspired by the book, “Life After You: What Your Death From Drugs Leaves Behind” by Linda Lajterman.
